Property Owners Get New Way to Verify Insurer Estimates
Why It Matters
The tool gives homeowners an affordable, data‑backed second opinion, potentially reducing costly disputes and pressuring insurers toward fairer valuations. It also signals a broader shift toward AI‑enabled consumer verification in the insurance market.
Property owners get new way to verify insurer estimates
Two independent claims adjusters in the US Southeast have unveiled a new platform, InsuranceClaim123, which aims to give property owners a fast and affordable way to check insurance carriers’ damage estimates for potential gaps.
The tool is designed as a CarFax-style service for property insurance claims, allowing homeowners to quickly determine whether a carrier’s estimate is fair before deciding to negotiate, escalate, or walk away, according to Beinsure.
InsuranceClaim123 combines artificial intelligence with building permit information, photographs, material costs, and adjuster expertise to identify potential issues, such as missed damage, unusually high depreciation, inconsistent repair scopes, or cases where repairs are suggested instead of full replacement.
The offering was created by Ben Mandell, a former homebuilder and independent adjuster since 2017, alongside fellow adjuster Mark Vinson, who studied computer science and built the system over the past year.
Mandell said the concept stemmed from homeowners’ concerns after receiving carrier estimates. “The platform gives policyholders a way to test whether that unease is justified before spending serious money on representation,” he said.
Users upload their insurer’s repair estimate, and the platform produces a report within three to five business days. The report flags items likely to be missing or confirms when an estimate appears reasonable. Each review costs $295, which is far lower than typical fees charged by public adjusters or attorneys to dispute claims.
Both founders are known in the claims sector, having testified as whistleblowers before the Florida House of Representatives in 2022 over alleged insurer practices. InsuranceClaim123 includes video from a 2024 CBS 60 Minutes segment covering those allegations.
The platform launched this month, and the company claims that initial demand has been strong.
