Fendt Brings Low-RPM Efficiency and Operator Simplicity to 500 Vario Gen4 Tractors

Fendt’s new 500 Vario series showcases a low‑RPM engine strategy that runs at roughly 1,400 rpm, far below the traditional 2,000‑2,100 rpm range. By leveraging the Agco PowerCore 50’s high‑torque curve, the tractor maintains power while reducing fuel consumption and engine wear. The lineup delivers 134 to 174 horsepower, giving operators a versatile power band that suits both row‑crop and larger‑scale tasks, while the consistent torque improves pull‑back response and overall field efficiency.

A headline feature is the VarioDrive continuous variable transmission, which removes gears, ranges, and clutches from the operator’s workflow. The CVT provides a seamless speed envelope from 6.5 mph up to 33 mph, allowing drivers to set a speed and let the system automatically match engine output. Independent front and rear axles sense slip and lock together as needed, enhancing traction. The new VarioGrip tire‑pressure system lets users adjust front and rear pressures separately, lowering pressures for field flotation and inflating for road travel, which extends tire life and reduces heat buildup.

The 500 series also introduces the CargoPro loader, an evolution of the standard Cargo loader that adds integrated scales and memorized position settings. This enables precise bale handling and on‑the‑fly weight tracking without leaving the cab. Built on the Fent1 platform, the tractor shares a uniform cab across the 200‑1000 series, simplifying training and reducing downtime.
