This feature narrows the performance gap for Intel’s integrated and lower-power Arc GPUs, boosting gaming viability for mainstream laptops and potentially strengthening Intel’s competitiveness in the GPU market if XESS 2 support expands.
Intel’s latest Arc drivers add multi-frame generation (up to 3x power) to Arc GPUs, bringing the frame-boosting technique popularized by NVIDIA and AMD to Intel’s discrete and integrated graphics. The update means Panther Lake laptops with integrated Arc can now use multi-frame generation, delivering a notable performance uplift for thin-and-light machines that previously couldn’t match gaming laptops. Adoption is limited today because games must support XESS 2 to enable the feature; only 44 titles currently do. Intel’s timing could help the company gain momentum in graphics if broader game support follows.
