Ethereum’s Fusaka upgrade passed its final test on the Hoodi testnet Tuesday, clearing the way for a planned Dec. 3 mainnet activation. The upgrade implements EIP-7594 Peer Data Availability Sampling, allowing validators to verify smaller data fragments from Layer 2 rollups instead of full blob downloads, improving node efficiency and reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. That efficiency gain should lower operational costs for validators, boost L2 throughput and scalability, and accelerate rollup adoption—strengthening Ethereum’s capacity to handle higher transaction volumes and competition from alternative networks.
