The deal bolsters VNA’s market position while addressing regional staffing shortages and expanding access to hospice care, especially for vulnerable populations.
The Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA) has finalized an asset purchase that transfers Faith Presbyterian Hospice’s patient roster and most of its staff into VNA’s network. By absorbing the hospice, VNA expands its census across 16 northern Texas counties and secures its position as the largest nonprofit hospice provider in the Dallas‑Fort Worth market. The deal reflects a broader trend of consolidation in the hospice sector, where providers seek scale to negotiate payer contracts, meet regulatory requirements, and sustain growth amid a fragmented landscape.
Beyond sheer size, the integration directly tackles the chronic staffing shortages that plague end‑of‑life care. Retaining Faith Presbyterian’s clinical and administrative teams gives VNA immediate capacity while spreading overhead across a larger patient base, creating economies of scale. The partnership also unlocks new service lines such as music and massage therapies, enhancing the quality of palliative care. Additionally, VNA will lease a floor in Forefront’s T. Boone Pickens senior‑living campus to operate a General Inpatient Care (GIP) unit, further diversifying revenue and clinical offerings.
VNA’s strategic moves extend to underserved populations, highlighted by the upcoming launch of Catherine’s House—a residential hospice facility for homeless individuals who lack a home environment for end‑of‑life care. This initiative underscores a growing emphasis on equity within the hospice industry, aligning with payer and community expectations for inclusive services. As VNA consolidates its footprint, the organization is positioned to influence regional care standards, attract philanthropic support, and potentially set a template for nonprofit hospice growth in other markets.
