Summary

The new trailer for "Giant" (2026) introduces a gritty boxing saga anchored by Amir El‑Masry’s Hamed and Pierce Brosnan’s seasoned trainer Brendan Nash. Set against a backdrop of a Danish‑mandarin gym, the film promises a clash of cultures and generations as Hamed fights his way from school‑yard troubles to world‑champion aspirations.

The narrative hinges on mentorship tension: Nash’s old‑school discipline versus promoter Frank Warren’s commercial ambitions. Dialogue such as “Punch the ignoramuses” and “You could be champion of the world” underscores a theme of embracing difference to forge strength. The trailer showcases over a hundred fighters, high‑energy choreography, and a promise that boxing is no longer a relic for “old men in suits” but a playground for swagger‑driven youth.

Key moments—Hamed’s “new Ali” monologue, the triumphant “Prince is champion of the world” proclamation, and a visual of a shadow cast “enough to the sun” — highlight the film’s blend of personal drama and spectacle. The music‑driven montage positions the sport as both a personal redemption story and a marketable global brand.

If the trailer’s tone translates to the final cut, "Giant" could revitalize the boxing genre, attract cross‑regional audiences, and signal a broader industry shift toward youthful, culturally nuanced sports dramas that marry athletic authenticity with blockbuster appeal.

Original Description

Check out the trailer for Giant, an upcoming film starring Pierce Brosnan, Amir El-Masry, Katherine Dow Blyton, Ali Saleh, Ghaith Saleh, and Toby Stephens.
Based on the remarkable true story of legendary British-Yemeni boxing champion Prince Naseem "Naz" Hamed and his relationship with Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle, GIANT charts Naz’s inspiring rags-to-riches underdog tale from his humble beginnings in Sheffield to becoming champion of the world.
With his unorthodox style, cocky persona and sheer dominance of the sport, Naseem faced down the abhorrent racism and islamophobia that swept Britain in the 80’s and 90’s, to become a global sporting icon, both inside and outside of the ring. The film explores the unlikely and tender relationship between Naz and his trainer Ingle – a steel industry worker who ran a humble boxing gym in a church hall in the North of England; and the instrumental role that Ingle played on Naz’s road to success. With exhilarating and visceral scenes in the ring, coupled with deeply moving and intimate moments behind the curtain, GIANT is an inspiring biopic of one of the greatest showmen the sporting world has even seen – the untold true story of the boy behind The Prince.
Giant is produced by Stuard Ford, Mark Lane, Kevin Sampson, and Ross Williams. Miguel A. Palos, Jr. Zach Garrett, Anant Tamirisa, Michael Ewing, Sylvester Stallone, Braden Aftergood, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Tyler Gould, Zygi Kamasa, Mark Gillespie, Nick Manzi, and Geoffrey Beattie serve as executive producers. It is written by Rowan Athale.
Giant, directed by Rowan Athale, opens in select theaters and on VOD on May 22, 2026.
