Summary

Brother Wallace performed his single “Who’s That?” live at the Forum of Minnesota Public Radio, delivering a stripped‑down set that foregrounds his vocal nuance and lyrical focus.

The song narrates a night of spotting an ex‑partner with a new lover, mixing vivid imagery—‘a fine lady on his arm, eyes like yours’—with a plaintive chorus that repeats the question, “Who’s that baby?” The recurring refrain underscores the narrator’s lingering confusion and hurt.

Key lines such as “You had a devil‑like smile” and “I’m out here flying, you’re riding in a fancy car” illustrate the contrast between the protagonist’s isolation and the perceived happiness of the other couple, while the minimal backing allows the words to resonate.

The performance highlights how intimate live settings can amplify personal storytelling, positioning Wallace as a compelling voice in the indie‑folk scene and suggesting broader appeal for audiences seeking authentic, emotionally charged music.

Georgia singer-songwriter Chris Wallace — known artistically as Brother Wallace — has been a choir director and music teacher, but his musical acumen led him to a connection and collaboration with U.K. band The Heavy. It was from that friendship that Brother Wallace's career as a soul and R&B artist got underway. "You got one life," Wallace says. "You might as well live it to the fullest."
Brother Wallace's debut album, Electric Love, releases on May 8, 2026, on ATO Records. Now touring in support of the album, Brother Wallace and his band visited the Forum at Minnesota Public Radio to play a live set before a studio audience. Between songs, Brother Wallace chatted with The Current's Bill DeVille about his life and career so far. Watch the full session above.
