The order doubles Air Cambodia’s capacity, unlocking new routes, lower fares and regional economic growth, while bolstering Boeing’s presence in a fast‑growing Asian market.
Air Cambodia announced at the Singapore Air Show 2026 a landmark purchase of Boeing’s 737‑8 MAX, the carrier’s first narrow‑body acquisition and its largest single‑aisle order to date. The deal comprises a firm commitment for ten aircraft and an option for ten more, potentially bringing the airline’s fleet from six planes to as many as twenty‑seven.
The 737‑8 MAX offers a two‑class capacity of up to 178 seats and a range of roughly 3,500 nautical miles, giving Air Cambodia the ability to serve high‑density routes and open new direct services across Northern and Southeast Asia. The aircraft’s fuel‑efficient design is expected to lower operating costs and enable the airline to offer more competitive fares.
CEO Sokha Kim announced that the investment “will enable the launch of new direct service across key markets” and highlighted the broader economic benefits, including job creation and community development. The order, previously listed anonymously on Boeing’s orders page, underscores the carrier’s strategic push to modernize its fleet and meet rising passenger demand.
The transaction strengthens Air Cambodia’s market position, intensifies competition among regional carriers, and adds to Boeing’s foothold in Southeast Asia. Lower fares and expanded connectivity could stimulate tourism and trade, while the fleet expansion signals confidence in the region’s post‑pandemic recovery.
