As drone threats proliferate and diversify, multi-domain C-UAS systems with open architectures and supplier partnerships will be crucial for defenders to adapt quickly; providers with field experience may be better positioned to meet urgent customer needs.
At the World Defense Show in Riyadh, ECS showcased its Black Talon counter-UAS system, highlighting recent upgrades that extend detection and defeat capabilities across air, ground and subsurface domains, including added sonar sensors for underwater drones. ECS emphasized an open-architecture approach to allow customers to mix sensors, effectors and deployment models and to integrate third-party technologies. The company argued that rapid evolution of drone threats and countermeasures requires capability partnering rather than single-vendor hardware- or software-centric solutions. ECS also cited its operational experience dating back to 2017–2018 as a competitive advantage amid a surge of new market entrants.
