Why It Matters

The feature offers a native, wireless solution for simultaneous listening, eliminating splitters and improving the user experience on premium PCs, while also driving adoption of Bluetooth LE Audio and differentiating Copilot+ hardware in the market.

Summary

Microsoft has rolled out a preview of a new "shared audio" feature in Windows 11 (build 26220.7051) that lets two Bluetooth LE Audio headsets receive the same sound stream from a single PC. The capability is accessed via a Quick Settings tile and requires a Copilot+ device with an NPU, as well as headphones and a laptop that support Bluetooth LE Audio. For now the feature is limited to select Surface models with Snapdragon X chips and a handful of Samsung Galaxy Book devices, with broader rollout planned for future Windows releases.
