Cocoon Carbon develops low-carbon construction materials by converting the by-product of electric steelmaking into LoopCem™, a scalable supplementary cementitious material (SCM). The company integrates its process with existing slag handling at EAF steel mills to produce a cementitious additive that enables cement and concrete producers to reduce embodied CO₂. LoopCem™ is engineered from Electric Arc Furnace slag and demonstrates comparable strength and durability at a 30% replacement ratio, offering potential reductions in emissions without premium costs. The initiative emphasizes the circular economy between steelmaking and cement industries, aiming to decarbonize construction materials globally.
