About Kintore Hydrogen

Kintore Hydrogen is a project led by Statera Energy aimed at developing a large-scale green hydrogen facility in Aberdeenshire, integrating electrolysis with wind power to decarbonise energy-intensive sectors and strengthen UK energy security. The initiative envisions using surplus electricity from Scottish offshore wind to produce green hydrogen for power generation decarbonisation and industrial use across the country, with a focus on establishing Aberdeenshire as a central hub in the UK’s low-carbon energy transition. It highlights benefits such as job creation and regional investment in the Scottish hydrogen supply chain, while promoting training and reskilling opportunities for the North East of Scotland’s workforce. The project underscores the UK’s goal of a renewables-led energy system and a scalable hydrogen economy to support decarbonisation of chemicals, refining, heavy transport, and other sectors.
