MBARI is a nonprofit oceanographic research center founded in 1987, dedicated to advancing marine science and engineering to understand our changing ocean. It creates and globally scales technologies for exploring, mapping, and studying ocean processes, with activities spanning deep-sea exploration, marine operations, and data-driven research. Located in Moss Landing, California, MBARI conducts research across the Monterey Bay area and beyond, partnering to develop instruments, observatories, and software that enable scientific discovery. The organization also maintains educational resources and public communications to share findings and methodologies with educators and researchers alike.
