Pantera is an investment firm focused on digital currency and companies in the space. Blockchain-based digital currencies are a completely new thing - "post-currency" ledgers - that are borderless, secure, low-cost, and which allow for virtually instantaneous payment and transfer of value. Pantera believes that digital currency has the potential to transform the way we use money and that it will do for payments what the Internet has done for communication and commerce. Until recently, Pantera focused on global macro hedge fund investments. The firm was founded in 2003 by Dan Morehead, who was Chief Financial Officer and Head of Macro Trading at Tiger Management. Shareholders of Pantera Bitcoin Partners LLC, a subsidiary of Pantera Capital, include Benchmark, Fortress Investment Group and Ribbit Capital.
