Open Tool Provides Adjustable Human Crash Baselines for AVs
https://t.co/lwh6KrTVd9 independently recreated Waymo's human baselines, extended them to more cities and trucking routes, and made the tool public. Estimating a crash rate seems simple: crashes divided by miles driven. In practice, the resulting crash rate changes drastically depending on the decisions made in how we define "crashes" and "miles driven." The domain the AV operates in matters. The right baseline for a robotaxi in a city isn't the right one for an autonomous truck on a highway, and choices like these can shift the number meaningfully. We couldn't find a single place where stakeholders could answer that for their own operating domain and decided to build and publish it ourselves. The human crash baselines tool covers urban areas and highway trucking corridors, and extends peer-reviewed AV benchmarking methods to heavy-duty trucking. Every public data source and methodological choice is cited and adjustable. It's meant as a shared reference that's open to contribution, discussion, and critical feedback, which we greatly encourage. Explore the tool: https://t.co/qCmsJMPPWO

Recently met someone who is building on-ramps for everyone to understand how to use claude. If the AI era feels like it's happening to you instead of with you — and you don't write code — start here. https://t.co/o9kVgtuSbb ...
Some Acts Lose Meaning When Made AI‑Legible
Something @bhalligan posted yesterday has stayed with me: not everything in our lives or in our companies should become legible to AI. I think I resisted this at first because I love this idea of being totally AI-pilled. On second...
Open‑source Models Behind Firewalls Could End Corporate Opacity
I actually think that some things you want to keep illegible *from other organizations* but IMO there is an opportunity to do this behind a firewall with open source models. To selectively send context out only when needed. I'd...
Seeking AI Legibility Solutions for Non‑Engineers
If anyone is creating a company that helps companies that pulls companies up these levels, I'd love to meet. Particularly around legibility and/or non-engineer usage of AI
AI Cold Emails Feel Impersonal, Follow-Ups Add Pressure
I find it a bit strange when I receive a cold AI-generated email which I ignore and then receive a follow up which reads, "I'm still expecting your response."
Agency Alone Misses Purpose and Collective Well‑Being
Had a really interesting discussion in my class yesterday and my co-teacher pointed me to this article from the NYTimes. This thought: To valorize agency without also emphasizing its purpose allows us to ignore harder questions like: How do...
