Can't agree more with Adam (yet again) As I always tell my team, "there is a very fine line between 'crazy smart' and 'crazy' and when we're writing a very early check we have to be willing to get this wrong because they often look the same." Believe me, I've backed crazy - it happens. Also, I look for what is motivating the founder. I look for a "chip on their shoulder" as I wrote about in 2012 Or as I once read, nobody inside the country club is looking to upset the apple cart. Comfort breeds conservatism. The mindset to "disrupt the system" often comes from outside the gold-plated walls.
