Yale Issues a Clarion Call for Change. Where Is Princeton?
On April 15, 2026 Yale President Maurie McInnis released a 50‑page report calling for sweeping reforms to restore public trust in higher education. The report tackles free speech, affordability, admissions, and technology, echoing concerns voiced by leaders at Harvard, Dartmouth, UT‑Austin, Johns Hopkins and others. A new coalition, Universities for America’s Future, has formed to coordinate reform efforts across campuses. In contrast, Princeton’s President Eisgruber has resisted such changes, arguing that reforms play into political attacks despite declining alumni support.
