It gives Marriott a direct channel to Indonesia’s high‑growth travel consumers while strengthening Mandiri’s ecosystem with premium lifestyle rewards, potentially boosting card spend and hotel bookings.
Co‑branded credit cards have become a staple for hospitality brands seeking to deepen loyalty, and Marriott’s entry into Indonesia marks a strategic expansion in Southeast Asia. Indonesia’s middle class is projected to reach 150 million by 2030, driving a surge in discretionary travel spending. Marriott Bonvoy already operates more than 86 properties across the archipelago and plans to add 30 more, positioning the brand to capture a sizable share of this growth. Partnering with Bank Mandiri, the country’s largest lender, gives Marriott immediate access to a nationwide distribution network and a digitally savvy customer base.
The Marriott Bonvoy Mandiri Credit Card bundles high‑value travel perks with Mandiri’s Livin’ digital platform. Cardholders receive a 5,000‑point welcome bonus, automatic Silver Elite status, and the potential to earn Gold Elite after meeting spend thresholds. Rewards accelerate to five points per dollar on eligible purchases, and a free‑night award of up to 20,000 points is granted once spending criteria are satisfied. Integrated QRIS payments, virtual cards, and installment options up to 36 months streamline everyday transactions, turning routine spend into premium hospitality benefits while the first‑year annual fee is waived.
For Marriott, the card creates a direct pipeline of qualified travelers who are more likely to book stays at its expanding portfolio, enhancing revenue per available room in the region. Bank Mandiri benefits by enriching its ecosystem with lifestyle rewards that differentiate its credit offering from competitors, potentially increasing card adoption and average spend. The collaboration also signals a broader trend of banks leveraging hospitality partnerships to deepen customer engagement. As Indonesia’s travel market continues to mature, the co‑branded card could become a benchmark for similar alliances across Asia‑Pacific.
