The expansion boosts capacity ahead of the Winter Olympics, positioning Milan as a leading European hub for premium aviation and demonstrating SEA Group’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure.
The opening of the new wing at Milano Linate Prime marks a significant upgrade to Italy’s busiest business‑aviation hub. Spanning 2,000 square metres, the addition includes nine glass‑walled lounges that give operators direct apron views and customizable interiors. SEA Prime’s traffic data shows a 7 % rise in movements in 2025 and a 13.5 % surge in early 2026, driven largely by the upcoming Milan‑Cortina Winter Olympics. By expanding lounge capacity and parking, the terminal is positioned to accommodate the seasonal influx of high‑net‑worth travelers and corporate jet activity.
Sustainability is woven into the wing’s architecture, with rooftop photovoltaic panels supplying renewable energy and a low‑impact air‑conditioning system that adjusts airflow based on real‑time carbon‑dioxide readings. These measures align with broader European aviation goals to cut emissions while maintaining passenger comfort. The corrugated metal façade and skylit main hall also reduce material waste and enhance natural lighting, lowering the building’s overall energy demand. Such green credentials not only appeal to environmentally conscious operators but also help SEA Prime meet tightening regulatory standards across the EU’s business‑aviation sector.
Financed entirely by the SEA Group and executed by RTI, the project underscores the conglomerate’s commitment to strengthening Milan’s airport ecosystem. By revitalising existing hangars and widening entrances, SEA Prime improves operational efficiency and strengthens its competitive edge against rival hubs in Central Europe. The timing—coinciding with the Winter Olympics—provides a high‑visibility platform to showcase the upgraded facilities to international delegations and potential investors. Looking ahead, the expanded terminal is likely to attract additional premium operators, bolstering revenue streams and reinforcing Milan’s status as a gateway for business aviation in the region.
