
Avanti West Coast has begun trialling a world‑first timetable optimisation tool created by the Centre for Modelling and Simulation. The system lets operators input variables such as speed restrictions, line closures or incidents and instantly produces fully optimised schedule alternatives. Initially deployed for a year on the Anglo‑Scot and North Wales routes, the tool aims to cut delays and cancellations during unplanned disruptions.
