
The Egyptian government has unveiled the Egypt Active Mobility Strategy 2025‑2034, a national plan that puts walking and cycling at the core of urban transport planning. The framework targets chronic congestion, air‑pollution, and unsafe streets in Cairo, Alexandria and other growing cities. By redesigning streets for people rather than cars, the strategy seeks to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, especially women, children, seniors and people with disabilities. Implementation will involve new sidewalks, crossings, bike lanes and integrated policy measures over the next decade.
