Premier League consultant slips into Schuh CMO job
Schuh has appointed a new chief marketing officer to succeed Stephanie Legg, who left the company in June 2025 to go into consultancy after just 18 months in the role.
Laura King has over 20 years’ marketing experience, joining from the Premier League, where she has served as marketing consultant since November 2024.
Prior to that, King spent two years as global marketing director for Accessorize and the previous two years as brand marketing director for Urban Outfitters’ Europe region. She has served as vice chair of non-profit organisation Save the Children UK since January 2024.
In her new role, King will lead a wide range of teams at the footwear retailer, including marketing, creative and visual merchandising.
Schuh was founded in Livingstone, Scotland, in 1981 and is now owned by Genesco Brands. It operates its own flagship website, where it sells over 80 brands, including Converse, Vans, UGG, Nike, Adidas as well as its own Schuh label; its footwear is also available through retail outlets including Asos, Very, Amazon, Next and Rakuten.
Schuh president Colin Temple said: “In an increasingly demanding and fast-paced market, the focus on creating inspiring brand experiences and storytelling for our customers is paramount. I am delighted to have Laura as part of my leadership team, bringing deep marketing expertise that will be key to sustaining schuh’s momentum and growth.”
King added: “I am thrilled to step into the chief marketing officer role at Schuh. I’ve always been impressed by its progressive attitude, diverse product range and best-in-class customer service. My goal is to leverage its unique, values-led culture to drive a truly meaningful connection with the youth audience.”
