If ambient AI scribes reliably eliminate after-hours documentation and boost patient experience, health centers can reduce provider turnover, restore clinical focus, and scale productivity gains across primary care—addressing a core driver of burnout and cost in the healthcare system.
At the 2025 NextGen User Group meeting, leaders from two Kentucky federally qualified health centers — Juniper Health and White House Clinics — described how NextGen’s Ambient Assist AI scribe sharply cut after-hours “pajama time,” reduced clinician burnout, and improved provider and patient satisfaction almost immediately after implementation. Both organizations ran pilots that integrated the ambient tool into their existing EHR, reporting elimination or major reduction of 2–3 hours nightly charting for users and higher Net Promoter Scores. NextGen’s CMO confirmed similar benefits across diverse practices and specialties, noting clinicians are leaving the clinic “done” rather than continuing work at home. The clinics said the technology restored time for patient interaction and family life while preserving documentation quality.
