Why It Matters

The demo highlights how Revit’s persistent numbering rules and AI assistant can prevent errors and dramatically speed bulk edits in complex BIM models, reducing tedious manual changes and improving project consistency. Built-in AI verification also helps maintain control and traceability over automated model edits.

Summary

In this tutorial on Revit 2027’s numbering tool, the presenter demonstrates how persistent numbering rules automatically reapply when model elements change and how to identify and edit the active numbering template. Using a sample of 117 solar curtain panels, he shows that direct edits to the mark property are blocked while the rule is active, and walks through inspecting partitions, counts, and the template settings. To efficiently rename panel-location prefixes (e.g., bay one → A), he uses the built-in Autodesk Assistant AI, which audits the panels, proposes the exact changes with counts, requests confirmation, and then executes the edits. The assistant completes the bulk update and provides a summary of modifications, saving substantial manual work.
