Lebanon Says Four Months Needed for Second Phase of Hezbollah Disarmament

Lebanon’s government announced that its army will need at least four months to complete the second phase of the five‑stage plan to dismantle Hezbollah’s arsenals south of the Litani River. The phase targets the corridor between the Litani and Awali rivers, following the successful completion of the first stage. Hezbollah has rejected any disarmament north of the Litani, labeling the effort a “grave sin,” while Israeli raids on southern Lebanon have intensified. The move comes amid a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that remains fragile and frequent UN complaints about Israeli violations.
