Aptitude Research and Phenom released the State of Hiring Automation 2026, analyzing over 200 enterprise hiring experiences and survey data from more than 300 organizations. The report finds that while attraction and engagement tools have lifted firms to about 62 % of their potential, post‑apply automation languishes at an average 21 % score. Nearly all companies (94 %) still schedule interviews outside the application flow, and less than 1 % have fully orchestrated inline qualification workflows. The study warns that the biggest opportunity now lies in embedding qualification, assessment, and scheduling directly into the candidate’s application journey.
