ESMA has published a set of Principles for Risk‑Based Supervision to create a unified supervisory culture across the EU. The framework outlines how regulators should identify, assess, prioritize and address risks to investor protection, financial stability and market order. By embedding a risk‑based approach, the principles aim to make supervision more proportionate, efficient and aligned with ESMA’s simplification and burden‑reduction agenda.
