Aptoide Sues Google over Alleged Android App Store Monopoly
Aptoide has filed an antitrust lawsuit in a San Francisco federal court accusing Google of maintaining an anticompetitive chokehold on Android app distribution and in‑app billing. The complaint says Google forces developers onto the Play Store, limiting rival stores even though Aptoide offers 436,000 apps to more than 200 million users. Aptoide seeks an injunction and unspecified triple damages, building on a 2014 EU antitrust complaint. The case adds to heightened U.S. scrutiny of Google after the Epic Games fight and a recent monopoly ruling on its search business.
