E10 Petrol to Be Rolled Out Nationwide Cutting 2 5 Million Tonnes of CO2 Annually
Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade announced a nationwide rollout of E10 petrol, a blend of 10% ethanol and 90% conventional gasoline. The policy aims to cut roughly 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 each year by replacing about one billion litres of fossil fuel with bio‑derived ethanol. Currently, 70‑80% of the ethanol needed for blending is imported, while domestic production supplies only 25,000 cu m per month of the 100,000 cu m required. The transition will run alongside existing E5 RON 92 fuel until the end of 2030.
