Matthews International Corp. this week said it has successfully closed the sale of its warehouse automation business to Duravant LLC. The unit previously provided packaging, printing, and mobile robots.

“Following this announcement, the company’s strategic alternatives review to enhance shareholder value creation remains ongoing,” he said.

Matthews Automation Solutions has years of experience
Founded in 1850, Matthews announced its intention to sell the warehouse automation portion of its Industrial Technologies segment in November 2025. The Pittsburgh-based company also focuses on memorialization, supplying memorials, caskets, and cremation equipment, primarily to cemetery and funeral home customers.
Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in the material handling sector, Matthews Automation Solutions claimed that it is North America’s largest independent provider of warehouse execution system (WES) and warehouse control systems (WCS) software and controls integration.
The company added that its Pyramid, Compass, Nexus, and Lightning Pick brands optimize material flow and order fulfillment for omnichannel, e-commerce, and advanced warehouse operations.
Duravant to expand productivity offerings
Duravant said that Matthews Automation Solutions’ technologies, including pick-to-light products and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), will expand its offerings to e-commerce, retail, parcel, and logistics customers.
Under the terms of the transaction, Matthews received total consideration of $232.1 million, representing cash consideration of $225.4 million, plus the assumption of certain liabilities of the business. That was more than the $230 million sum originally announced. The warehouse automation business generated sales of $72 million in fiscal 2025.
Duravant provides automation for the food processing, agriculture, packaging, and logistics industries. The Downers Grove, Ill.-based company said it “delivers performance-driven technologies, integrated systems, and full lifecycle services that drive productivity, efficiency, and safety for the world’s producers and movers of high-demand goods.”
“This strategic acquisition significantly expands our software and controls engineering capabilities, allowing us to deliver robust, end-to-end integrated solutions—from design and implementation through ongoing service that drives long-term customer success,” said said Mike Kachmer, outgoing chairman and CEO of Duravant.
