The hire underscores the accelerating demand for advanced drone capabilities in energy and infrastructure sectors, where aerial data drives safety, efficiency, and cost savings. Skilled RPAS pilots are becoming critical assets for companies expanding digital inspection services worldwide.
The commercial drone market is entering a phase of rapid maturation, propelled by tighter safety regulations and the proven ROI of aerial inspections. Altomaxx Technologies leverages this momentum by offering end‑to‑end services that combine high‑resolution sensors, ground‑penetrating radar, and bathymetric mapping. Its strategic focus on oil and gas, a sector that values precise emissions monitoring and confined‑space access, positions the firm as a go‑to provider for complex, high‑risk environments.
The newly advertised RPAS Specialist role reflects Altomaxx’s commitment to scaling operations while maintaining rigorous safety standards. Applicants must possess a Transport Canada RPAS Pilot Flight Review rating and a suite of certifications—including First Aid, H2S Alive, and confined‑space training—ensuring readiness for hazardous sites. Proficiency with flight‑planning tools such as UgCS, DJI Pilot, and Pix4D is prized, as these platforms streamline mission planning and post‑processing, delivering actionable intelligence to clients. By handling payload operations, visual observation, and preventive maintenance, pilots become integral to data quality and regulatory compliance.
For professionals, this position offers a gateway into a high‑growth niche where technical expertise translates directly into business impact. The role’s travel component exposes pilots to diverse geographies and project types, enhancing skill sets in global operations. As the energy industry increasingly adopts drone‑based monitoring to reduce emissions and improve safety, demand for certified pilots will outpace supply, making this a strategic career move. Altomaxx’s international client base further amplifies opportunities for advancement, positioning its pilots at the forefront of the next wave of aerial innovation.
