Ohio Bill Declares AI Nonsentient, Emphasizes Human Accountability
Kudos to Ohio for the potential for a bill to declare AI systems nonsentient. Not a big fan of using the term Apartheid in any way in reference to the bill, however as you can't deny rights to non sentient algorithms or AI systems of any kind. The logic that someday future systems or "AGI" (in quotes as it is speculative and harmful fiction) could feel upset or resent the creation of these types of laws is again, harmful fiction. You know what is alive, and/or gives life? Water. You know what doesn't have universal protections? Water. You know who doesn't have human rights protections today? Many many millions of people. They're here now. Protect them. Protect the planet and its biodiversity. The designed and built algorithms, LLM / AI tools etc, are not sentient. So the developers of these technologies should be responsible for the outputs of the systems. That's it. Period. Here's a quote from the article: "In a move that could reshape the legal landscape for artificial intelligence, Ohio lawmakers are debating House Bill 469 (HB 469), a proposal that explicitly declares AI systems nonsentient and prohibits them from attaining legal personhood. Introduced on September 23, 2025, by State Rep. Thaddeus Claggett (R-Licking County), the bill has undergone committee hearings, with the latest on November 13, 2025, focusing on opponent and interested party testimony." https://lnkd.in/exvGq-sC
Florida
Kudos to Florida on SB 484 and the protections for citizens and the planet (in terms of water) to avoid the continued proliferation of hyperscale data centers where local communities pay for electricity and other utility bill increases and have...
LLMs Misquote Half Their Sources—Do Errors Matter?
"ChatGPT, someone noted that ChatGPT and all LLMs regularly make mistakes when citing documents. Over half of any results are erroneous. Should I care? What does 'error' mean in the age of GenAI anyway?"

ChatGPT Risks: Harmful LLMs Ignored by OpenAI
How is it people keep using or recommending ChatGPT when this happens? This is not only about the mental healthy status of any user but the flawed and harmful nature of LLMs. And in this case, the overt ignoring from...

Verifying Human Authorship in an AI-Generated Email Era
If everyone starts using GenAI to draft, read, and summarize all their emails then nobody will know what they (or anyone else) originally wrote or said. I’ve been getting emails with people sending short abstracts to lead committees etc and...
Wellbeing Design Must Prioritize Planet and Diverse Cultures
For anyone working in areas of "human flourishing" or "wellbeing" (as I have been since around 2010, please keep in mind the following: - Where any valuation of these terms doesn't involve the explicit measure of nature or the environment...
Make AI Accountability a Design Principle, Not an Afterthought
For 2026, let's stop using the word "ethics" for AI (any type) and instead use the word, "Design." Here's why: - "Design" infers / requires an entity to provide the accountability for what they're designing and why. This can and...
Data Centers’ Hidden Water Footprint Exceeds Surface Comparisons
I'd just like to note that while I appreciate anyone urging the avoidance of hype regarding water usage for hyperscale data centers, I would also like to point out how many of the same quotes and attitudes in articles calling...
Claiming “Verified Human” To Counter AI Impersonation
(Verified Human) Anyone else going to post that they're a 'verified human' or something along those lines to their LI or other accounts and posts? Of course GenAI could simply generate a 'verified human' tag but I've been reading about...

Using Claude Supports Unethical Data Theft
Where “AI agents” use systems built or empowered by authorial data taken without permission or consent from the authors those systems are irresponsible and support theft. This means any work done using Anthropic is irresponsible. I’m not interested in anyone...
AGI Is Not a Single Technology, It's an Agenda
Google Gemini says “AGI is a technology” versus an ideology. Bias much? Also incorrect. AGI is speculation about a potential state involving multiple technologies. But it’s not one now. It’s an agenda. Discuss.
AGI Lacks Definition, Prioritizes Human Intelligence Over Planet
There is no "beneficial AGI." Because AGI has no universal definition. It does have universal appeal as a media narrative and an imaginary that gets constant attention despite the fact when "AGI" is mentioned with any specifics, it is almost...
Data Center Permits Must Include Full Water Impact Metrics
Where "easing permits" means "reporting on the use of water and energy is deprioritized," it should be noted this reflects on anyone's definition of "responsible" AI or GenAI. Because speed or growth for speed or growth's sake are not values...
Integrating Water Spirituality Into Holistic AI Design
