Teaching Abu Dhabi Leaders Humanity’s Future with Synthetic Intelligence
Even the toilets in Abu Dhabi are gold plated. There is so much wealth here. United Arab Emirates is the 81st country I have been in, my passport says. In some I peed into a hole in the ground. When I got on the plane I thought I would only be doing a couple of speeches. But just talked myself into being the MC for the event. Which is teaching the money here in Abu Dhabi about the upsides and downsides of merging humans and other biological beings into new synthetic intelligence. It is a role that I have prepared hard for by visiting with brain/computer interface pioneers (I have them on my neuroscience list) and robotics and AI pioneers (many lists). And many startups around the world. We will explore how humans will not just survive as our societies automate (many fears there about jobs and meaning going away) but how we will need to evolve belief itself. Scary huge topics. How did I get this new role? Ride with the conference organizer from the airport at 2 a.m. Have one of the most interesting conversations of my life, and as we were walking into the hotel she told me one of the fires she was fighting was their MC couldn’t show up. Remember the Hamilton play? When your shot shows up take it. Thank you to X. This is the world’s best learning platform. Could any other prepare me? No. I am on team humanity, even though I mostly share AI here with you. Will try to get the money aimed in the right direction to help us all. Gotta get a couple hours of sleep…

Prioritize Robotics Over OpenAI in US Funding
If @kscalelabs robotics can't get funding, why should the US government prop up OpenAI? In the competition with China having a strong robotics ecosystem is far more important than keeping an LLM builder up and running. The technology under robotics is changing...
Open‑source Robotics Lets Anyone Swap World Models
Out of the fire rises a Phoenix. Now they need a World Model (er a VLA) and then an open source robot makes sense to me as a business. Will be watching to see if this new effort can put...

Grok now remembers. Tell it something in this post. Then when you talk to it again it will remember what you talked about.

Personal AI Firewalls Guard Local Models From Data Leaks
I'm evolving my thinking about privacy. Each of us has stuff that we don't want to "leak" into models. Intellectual property. Personal mental illness issues. Finances and investments. So how will we protect it all? A variety of new ways,...
World Models, Not LLMs, Will Drive Next‑year AGI
I'm more and more convinced after visiting with AI geniuses in San Francisco that LLMs are not the way forward. World Models are. Or this. Or cognitive archiectures. All of which we will call "AGI" when they arrive next year.
Privacy and Trust Are Crucial for Home Robots
The real problem for robots and virtual beings: Privacy. They will find your guns and your sex toys. Most humans are not ready for that and aren’t educated about how AI works to trust it. Trust. Am studying companies who are building these things...
World Models Give Robots Unique, Human‑Like Experiences
World Models are exponential learning engines. I learned yesterday in San Francisco that they lead to a system that behaves “conscious.” And it is running on melted sand. And consciousness isn’t the goal. Your robot will have a personality and life experiences that will...

Optimus May Replace All Factory Workers by 2030
Elon DMd me this morning and said the next @Tesla_Optimus (version 3) can “probably” roll a cigar. Rolling joints is harder. If I was @elonmusk I would put three cameras on every one of his 12,000 workers in @tesla’s Fremont factory. That would...
People Reject Autonomous Cars—Adoption Inevitable Within Three Years
I did a lot of consumer research more than a decade ago for the auto industry. It drew the most heavy rejection of my career. “If a car drove up without a steering wheel would you take a ride with me?” One guy...
