Summary

The Mandali Retreat Centre streamed a seven‑day meditation retreat (April 19‑26, 2026) centered on the 13th‑century Sufi mystic Balyani and his concise work “Know Yourself.” The facilitator presented the text as a lens for exploring personal consciousness rather than a historical study.

He argued that true understanding of reality cannot be reached through external study because perception limits knowledge. Balyani’s core teaching—that knowing one’s own being is identical to knowing the infinite divine—was framed as the highest science, superseding all philosophical methods and practices.

Quoting the prophet Muhammad’s saying, “whosoever knows their self knows their Lord,” he highlighted the ancient inscription above the Temple of Apollo in Delphi that reads “Know yourself.” The discourse repeatedly emphasized the absence of time, space, and duality in pure awareness.

By positioning the unity of being as a remedy to the “presumption of separation” driving geopolitical conflict, the retreat suggests personal self‑realization can inform leadership, corporate culture, and social cohesion. The message challenges conventional self‑improvement programs, urging participants to rest in innate infinite awareness rather than pursue incremental practices.
