New HPE Mist Features Validate NAC Changes, Enable Inline Microsegmentation (Sponsored)

Why It Matters

These features let enterprises enforce granular segmentation and policy locally at remote sites, reducing cloud backhaul and improving security visibility and response across mixed-vendor environments — accelerating NAC adoption and operational control for branch/retail footprints.

Summary

HPE’s Juniper Mist team detailed enhancements to its cloud-managed Access Assurance NAC that let customers test and refine access policies and deploy inline microsegmentation at branches and retail sites without requiring an EVPN fabric. Mist Edge — available as an appliance, VM or in-cloud instance — can proxy third‑party RADIUS authentications into Mist’s secure cloud control plane, extend local enforcement and telemetry, and simplify on‑prem enforcement for mixed-vendor deployments. The update emphasizes the network as an enforcement point for east‑west control and zero‑trust telemetry, not just transport. HPE also highlighted easier deployment models for customers moving infrastructure into public cloud VPCs.

Original Description

HPE has announced new features in its Juniper Mist portfolio. On today's sponsored Packet Protector, we dig into those features, including a dry run option that lets organizations test and refine Network Access Control (NAC) policies before pushing them out, a policy validation feature that can identify shadow NAC rules, and a microsegmentation capability aimed at branch and retail networks that doesn’t require an EVPN-based fabric to enforce microsegmentation policies.
