BARDA, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, accelerates the development, production, and procurement of medical countermeasures to protect the United States from public health emergencies. It coordinates with federal agencies and industry partners to advance vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics, and medical devices across divisions such as CBRN, influenza and emerging infectious diseases, and DRIVe innovation programs. Based under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, BARDA supports national health security through research, development, and partnerships with industry and academia. The organization operates primarily within the United States, with collaborations that extend to domestic manufacturing capacity and regulatory readiness for rapid deployment during emergencies.
