MEGA is a non-profit Local Development Corporation that unites New York state municipalities, counties, school districts, and other governmental entities to reduce energy costs through collective procurement. The organization runs competitive public bidding processes to secure electricity, natural gas, and renewable power, leveraging its members’ buying power to obtain favorable contracts. Constellation Energy and NRG are the resulting suppliers for electricity and natural gas, respectively, enabling hundreds of localities to access lower energy prices while retaining control over terms and structure. MEGA serves over 235 governmental entities across upstate New York, promoting energy conservation and long-term cost savings for public taxpayers.
