National Housing Bank (NHB) is an apex-level financial institution based in New Delhi, India, established in 1988 to promote housing finance and development in the country. It was set up by the Government of India under the National Housing Bank Act, with primary support from the Reserve Bank of India. NHB initially had regulatory powers over Housing Finance Companies but these powers were transferred to RBI in 2019. NHB focuses on facilitating affordable housing finance and strengthening the housing finance market across India.
