Here’s my brutal advice for 2026 but it’s given with love and to help: Assume You Get Laid Off This Year. Just assume it. Why? - Assume you aren’t AI fluent enough - Assume an AI agent replaces you - Assume growth doesn’t increase and yes you are in part responsible Now go do something about it. Become a Master of Your Universe. Become the AI expert in whatever you do. The manager of agents. The one that brings in AI to level things up, not the one threatened by it. The one that embraces change and the future here, for real. Almost everyone in tech is holding the line on headcount. Shopify is keeping headcount flat for the third year in a row. And everyone is looking to accelerate what they do with AI. Just assume you get laid off sometime this year. The clock is ticking. Go do something about it. Be indispensable. Be the Master of AI in your role. Not at its mercy.
