Slow Listening Unlocks Patience and Creative Possibility

I've been waking up every morning listening to Rick Rubin's chapter on patience from The Creative Act. With three kids, I needed this chapter long before I found it... "Impatience is often an ego-driven desire to move on to the next thing, or a fear that we aren't enough if we aren't producing." "To rush the process is to limit the possibilities." I normally listen to audiobooks at 2x speed. My son Jonah suggested I listen to Rick Rubin's book at 0.8x. He was right. It's incredibly powerful and relaxing. The ideas sink in differently when you let them breathe.
