The CfDs de‑risk investment, accelerating low‑carbon capacity addition and reinforcing the UK’s renewable energy pipeline. This strengthens energy security and offers affordable clean power to consumers.
The United Kingdom’s Contracts for Difference scheme remains a cornerstone of its renewable energy strategy, offering developers a guaranteed price for electricity over a 15‑year period. By securing CfDs for both solar and wind assets, BayWa r.e. taps into this market‑stabilising mechanism, reducing financing risk and attracting capital at competitive rates. The latest awards come as the government pushes the Clean Power 2030 agenda, aiming to double offshore wind capacity and significantly expand solar generation to meet its Net Zero by 2050 commitment.
Fleet Solar Farm, a 47.5 MW ground‑mounted installation north of Long Sutton, received planning consent in 2025 and will begin construction in late 2026 under the new CfD contract. Adjacent, the High Constellation Wind Farm will host ten turbines delivering 50 MW near Clachan, also slated for a 2026 start‑up. Both projects promise stable, low‑cost electricity for households and businesses while delivering local employment, supply‑chain opportunities, and community benefits such as biodiversity enhancements and infrastructure upgrades.
The dual CfD wins push BayWa r.e.’s UK portfolio to 15 contracts across five allocation rounds, underscoring the company’s growing footprint in a market hungry for clean power. As other developers scramble for limited CfD capacity, BayWa r.e.’s diversified pipeline—spanning solar, wind, and battery storage—positions it to capture future auction rounds and to offer integrated renewable solutions. The firm’s ability to lock in long‑term revenue streams not only bolsters its balance sheet but also signals confidence in the UK’s policy framework, encouraging further private‑sector investment.
10 February 2026
BayWa r.e. has secured long‑term Contracts for Difference (CfDs) for Fleet Solar Farm in Hampshire and High Constellation Wind Farm in Argyll & Bute.
The company said the award of two CfDs strengthens its commitment to delivering projects that support the Government’s Clean Power 2030 mission, the UK’s Net Zero by 2050 target and long‑term energy security.
BayWa r.e. added that Fleet Solar Farm is a 47.5 MW project north of Long Sutton granted planning permission in 2025.
High Constellation Wind Farm has a planned 50 MW capacity, with the 10‑turbine project located near Clachan in Argyll & Bute, and construction for both schemes is planned to begin later in 2026.
The company stated that the CfDs will provide stable, long‑term revenue backing to support investment in low‑carbon electricity generation and contribute to a decarbonised UK power system by 2035.
BayWa r.e. said the awards mark a further milestone as it expands its UK portfolio across solar, wind and battery energy storage.
Gemma Hamilton, director of strategy & origination at BayWa r.e. UK Ltd., said:
“Receiving CfDs for both Fleet Solar Farm and High Constellation Wind Farm is testament to the strength of our development pipeline, and a direct result of the diligent work of our teams.”
Hamilton added:
“These projects will deliver clean, affordable energy for British homes and businesses for decades to come, whilst also providing environmental and economic benefits for local communities.”
The company stated that since first bidding into Allocation Round 3 it has secured 15 CfDs across five rounds.
