Pulse Analysis

The United Kingdom’s energy transition is accelerating, with Scotland and the northern English corridor emerging as hotspots for offshore wind, green hydrogen and grid upgrades. Companies seeking to navigate complex financing structures, merger activity, and stringent ESG requirements need advisors who understand both the technical and regulatory nuances of these projects. By bolstering its regional presence, Forvis Mazars positions itself to capture a growing share of advisory spend tied to the nation’s net‑zero ambitions.

Séamus McCabe’s appointment brings a rare blend of investment acumen and hands‑on project delivery. His two‑decade track record includes steering multi‑billion‑pound renewable ventures from conception through to operational handover, a skill set that aligns with Forvis Mazars’ goal of offering end‑to‑end advisory services. Operating from Edinburgh, McCabe will leverage his extensive network across the UK and Ireland to attract new mandates, while mentoring the firm’s 130‑strong specialist cohort to deliver integrated solutions that span capital raising, risk mitigation and sustainability reporting.

For clients, the expanded E&I capability translates into more strategic guidance on structuring deals that balance financial returns with climate objectives. The move also signals heightened competition among professional services firms vying for a slice of the UK’s £100 billion infrastructure pipeline projected through 2030. As policy incentives and private capital converge, Forvis Mazars’ enhanced regional footprint could become a decisive factor for developers and investors seeking a partner with deep local insight and global reach.

Global professional services outfit Forvis Mazars has appointed Séamus McCabe (pictured) as energy and infrastructure advisory director.

McCabe will work to expand the firm’s energy & infrastructure (E&I) services across Scotland and Northern England. The team partners with clients to support M&A and financing transactions, enhance operational performance and resilience, and assess the environmental and social impacts of their activities.

McCabe will lead the development of Forvis Mazars’ regional sector offering, focusing on building local market presence and strengthening client experience across Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, and Manchester.

He will also support the wider sector leadership team as the firm continues to grow its E&I advisory capabilities.

The Irish man has over 20 years’ experience in investment, commercial leadership and the delivery of multi‑billion‑pound renewable energy and offshore wind projects across the UK and Ireland. He has previously worked at SSE Renewables and the Green Investment Group.

Based in the firm’s Edinburgh office, McCabe will be working with a team of 130 specialists operating across the UK and as part of the global energy and infrastructure team.

“I’m delighted to be joining Forvis Mazars at such a pivotal moment for the energy transition,” he said.

“I look forward to working with our clients across the region to help bring forward the projects and partnerships that will drive sustainable, long‑term change.”

Craig Maxwell, Glasgow office managing partner, added:

“We are thrilled to welcome Séamus to our growing team in Scotland.

His depth of experience across major energy and infrastructure projects, combined with his strong industry relationships, will significantly strengthen our regional capabilities. Scotland and the wider northern region are at the forefront of the UK’s energy transition, and Séamus’ leadership will play an important role in helping our clients navigate opportunities and deliver impactful, sustainable projects.”
