The deal boosts Ireland’s renewable capacity and confirms growing confidence in Voltalia’s EPC capabilities across the European solar market.
Ireland’s solar market is accelerating, driven by ambitious national targets and supportive policies that encourage large‑scale photovoltaic deployments. The 124.2 MW Wexford Hub adds a significant chunk of capacity, helping the country move toward its 2030 renewable electricity goal. By integrating this project into the existing grid, ESB can diversify its generation mix, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and meet increasing demand for clean power from both residential and industrial customers.
Voltalia’s subsidiary Renvolt is leveraging the ESB partnership to cement its position as a leading EPC provider in Europe. The company’s strategy of bundling engineering, procurement, construction, and long‑term O&M services creates a one‑stop solution that appeals to utilities seeking risk‑mitigated delivery. Recent wins—including Carriglong and Clashwilliam—demonstrate a scalable execution model, while the cumulative 5.6 GW portfolio signals robust project pipelines that can attract financing on favorable terms.
For investors and industry observers, Renvolt’s expanding footprint signals a maturing European solar ecosystem where seasoned EPC firms can capture value beyond construction. The inclusion of a maintenance contract ensures steady revenue streams and asset performance monitoring, essential for long‑term profitability. As more jurisdictions adopt net‑zero commitments, firms that combine technical expertise with integrated service offerings are likely to dominate future solar roll‑outs, positioning Renvolt and Voltalia for sustained growth.

Renvolt has signed a turnkey EPC contract to build the Wexford Hub solar project in County Wexford, Ireland.
Voltalia said its services subsidiary secured the contract with ESB, the Irish public energy services company, strengthening a partnership that has already delivered four projects completed or under construction.
It added that ESB awarded Voltalia two turnkey EPC contracts in July 2025 for the 43.7 MW Carriglong and 49.2 MW Clashwilliam solar plants.
Renvolt will deliver engineering, procurement and construction for Wexford Hub, followed by an operations and maintenance contract.
The company said the new award takes Renvolt’s capacity under construction on behalf of third parties to more than 1 GW.
Robert Klein, CEO of Voltalia, said:
“We are proud to further strengthen our collaboration with ESB through this project led by our subsidiary Renvolt. The Wexford Hub contract illustrates our ability to showcase the expertise of our teams and provide competitive and reliable solutions to support Ireland's energy transition. This achievement confirms the relevance of our strategy in this dynamic market, where we have already built or commissioned several major projects. We will continue to invest and innovate to help our customers achieve their low‑carbon ambitions, while consolidating Renvolt's position in Europe.”
Eduardo Porras, CEO of Renvolt, added:
“This new contract marks a significant milestone for Renvolt and confirms ESB's long‑term confidence. With Wexford Hub, we are using all our expertise to deliver a high‑performance, reliable and competitive solar power plant. Taking over the general management of Renvolt is a great source of pride; I am fully committed, alongside our teams, to continue our development and strengthen our contribution to the energy transition.”
Voltalia said Renvolt has 5.6 GW of projects built or under construction and provides operations and maintenance services for 1.9 GW of assets across 14 countries.
