Pulse Analysis

Collectible hunting has become a cornerstone of modern gaming culture, and REANIMAL exemplifies this trend with its 18 distinct masks. By publishing a granular, chapter‑by‑chapter walkthrough, content sites tap into a high‑intent audience searching for precise in‑game directions. Search algorithms reward such detailed, structured content, elevating visibility for niche titles that might otherwise be eclipsed by blockbuster franchises. As a result, publishers that invest in thorough guides can capture valuable ad impressions and affiliate revenue while reinforcing their expertise in the gaming niche.

Beyond SEO benefits, mask acquisition directly influences player behavior. Trophy hunters and completionists often replay sections, extending session length and fostering deeper immersion. This increased engagement translates to higher retention metrics for the developer, as players spend more time within the ecosystem to achieve 100 percent completion. Moreover, the social cachet of earning the “Beneath the Mask” trophy fuels community discussions, user‑generated content, and streaming exposure, all of which amplify the game’s lifespan and ancillary monetization opportunities such as DLC or cosmetic sales.

For creators, delivering a reliable, up‑to‑date mask guide establishes brand credibility and encourages repeat visits. As REANIMAL receives patches or new content, timely updates to the guide can sustain traffic spikes and maintain search rankings. Leveraging multimedia—screenshots, short video clips, and interactive maps—further enriches the user experience, differentiating the resource from generic text‑only walkthroughs. In a crowded digital landscape, precision, authority, and adaptability remain the key drivers of long‑term success for gaming guide publishers.

He specializes in a variety of AAA and multiplayer titles; from spending countless hours with Sam and BB in Death Stranding to plowing through the latest raid boss with his clan mates in Destiny 2, there's a lot for him to enjoy about the gaming industry.

Previously, we covered all the hidden coffins you needed for the secret ending in the game, but this time, let's look at how you can get your hands on every single available mask in REANIMAL.

The game has a plethora of collectibles, and amidst the ones that you need to acquire for the Platinum Trophy/100 Percent, these masks are one of them. There are a total of 18 masks that you can collect across all the chapters (except for the pre‑order bonuses), and you can have either the boy or the girl wear them in your playthrough.

With this guide I've prepared today, I'll cover each mask and its location in REANIMAL so you can go grab them all to earn that sweet “Beneath the Mask” trophy/achievement.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL – Chapter 1

Birdhead Mask

The first mask appears midway through the early sections of Chapter 1. After climbing up a ladder onto a walkway, you’ll be able to talk to one of your friends nearby through a pipe gate. Instead, turn around and go through the door behind you. After emerging outside, squeeze through the gap in the wall, and you’ll come across the first mask sitting in a box for you to collect.

Guts Mask

The mask literally looks like a cluster of guts or intestines mashed together. This mask can be found once you overcome the Boiler Room puzzle in the factory, one of the first yet simple puzzles in the game.

Strawhat Mask

After following the contorted man into the bathroom stalls, you’ll use a plunger to yank a key out of one of the toilets here. Once you’ve gotten the key, go back outside to the cart. Instead of going to the locked door on the other side, there is another open door you can enter directly below, which doesn’t have a lightbulb. Enter the door, go directly across the walkway, and into another secluded room, where you can find this mask lying on a box below the missile bomb.

Pighead Mask

From where you first enter the city, you’ll soon come to a section where you and your partner lift a metal shutter to enter a shop with mannequins. You can use one of the mannequins’ heads to break the window and get back outside. Before exiting, go behind the counter, and you can crouch down to enter a small vent opening that leads to an eerie backroom with a pig’s head on the table. Below it, you can grab a small piggy mask from the tray.

Traffic Cone Mask

Before going across to the boarded‑up entrance that leads to the gas station, swing around to another boarded‑up set of doors on the right side. You’ll briefly spot a critter with a traffic cone on top of it heading inside the building. Break open these doors using your crowbar, head inside, and squash the critter to claim the traffic cone mask.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL – Chapter 3

Deer Antler Mask

From where you first enter the field of yellow flowers, with the barn in the shadowy distance, head to the left to spot a scarecrow. Hit the scarecrow with your crowbar to spawn a critter that you can kill to collect the Deer Antler mask.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL – Chapter 4

Bucket Mask

During the opening segments of Chapter 4, you’ll enter a clock tower with your partner. In the very first room that you enter, head to the right to find a bookcase that you can crouch under to enter a hidden room tucked away with candles. If you go a bit more inside, you should trigger a critter with the bucket mask to spawn and run off outside back to the original room. Go back once again and kill the spider‑like critter to claim another mask.

There will be a section in the Spider Children’s orphanage where you’ll enter a small vent to a large room with a child who has a crown on his head, commanding the rest of the spectral children to attack you and your partner. This will be the mask that everyone can easily miss on their first playthrough, just because of how hidden it is.

As you’re fighting the children, keep an eye on the king on the throne. Once you’ve taken down one or two Spider Children apparitions, he’ll try to flee from the backside of the throne. As soon as you see him behind there, rush him down; he should go down in a single strike from your crowbar.

Planthead Mask

After defeating the king and his disciples, you’ll be fighting another wave of children in a storage‑room‑like area. After you’ve beaten them, exit the door and you’ll be in an area with broken floorboards that you can jump across. However, immediately turn around and walk towards the camera to find a hidden spot that you can squeeze into to pull out a plant. This baggy plant structure is the Planthead mask.

Madfish Mask

In the section where you encounter a bunker that requires a 4‑node code, you’ll first need to turn on the power generator. Head outside to find the generator, and you’ll notice a fish‑marked box that you can push over the broken ledge. Head back inside and solve the puzzle normally. Retrace your steps back to your boat on the beach by squeezing through the left‑side exit. Once you’re back on the beach, head to the far‑left side to spot a critter that you can squash to collect the Madfish Mask.

Sack Mask

After you’ve used the cannon to subdue the monster blocking the main path between the ruined buildings, travel through there and you’ll soon emerge on a massive ship. Instead of heading forward, make your way to the far‑right side until you come across a small opening guarded by a couple of mines. Explode them to reveal a small beach area where you can park your boat and get off to claim the Sack mask from a crate nearby.

Seadiver Helmet Mask

In the ship section, after you’ve used your underwater diving suits to extract the eye from the monstrous creature, insert the eye into the whale in the main path forward. Both children will then switch back out of their diving outfits. You can then grab both helmets here to unlock the Seadiver Helmet masks; they count as two separate mask entries. Make sure to wear them so they can actually be unlocked and accessed as masks.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL – Chapter 7

Bush Mask

From where you climb out into the war‑torn battlefield landscape of Chapter 7, before heading down into the trenches, look to the right to spot a shutter. Lift this shutter with your partner to enter a hidden crawlspace that leads to the Bush Mask, which can be picked up from the case.

Mine Mask

After you’ve taken the plunge into the trenches, you’ll eventually come across a few soldiers taking their own lives, two with pistols and a third with a rifle under his head. Past the third soldier, do not continue forward yet; look to the right for a wooden crawlspace that you can squeeze through with your friends. This leads to a tucked‑away spot with loads of ammunition and artillery, but most importantly, you can also pick up the Sea Mine Mask (it resembles the mines you blew up) next to a lit candle.

Rabbit Statue Mask

If you want a separate guide listing all of these secret statue locations, check the “All Hidden Prayer Statue Locations” guide. The Rabbit Statue mask can be found in the same place as the last statue, essentially the main altar of sorts. Once you’re in the trenches in Chapter 7, as you see the ramp leading out of them, look to the left to spot a wall you can squeeze through. This will lead to the Rabbit Statue mask.

Toad Mask

Inside the war hospital, you’ll come across a locked set of doors that require bolt cutters. These are found in a surgery room right next door in an explosive‑rigged cabinet.

Gas Mask

Once you get the key from the hanged bodies in the shooting range room, exit through the door, but before you proceed, there is an oven you can open with your crowbar. Opening it will reveal a critter wearing a gas mask.
