Pulse Analysis

The upcoming Resident Evil Requiem marks the ninth main‑line installment in Capcom’s three‑decade‑old survival‑horror franchise. Set thirty years after the iconic Raccoon City disaster, the game returns players to the ruined city while introducing a fresh narrative thread: FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, whose mother’s death ties her to a new series of murders. By pairing Grace with veteran D.S.O. Agent Leon Kennedy, Capcom weaves legacy and novelty, promising both nostalgic callbacks and unexplored storylines that could reinvigorate the series’ long‑term arc.

Capcom’s casting strategy underscores the importance of continuity and star power in modern gaming. Nick Apostolides, the North‑American actor who voiced and performed motion capture for Leon in the Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes as well as the Netflix miniseries, reprises the role, ensuring vocal consistency for longtime fans. Meanwhile, Angela Sant’Albano, known for film and television work, makes her video‑game debut as Grace, bringing fresh talent to the franchise. The characters’ visual fidelity is further enhanced by face models Julia Pratt and Eduard Badaluta, reinforcing realism through high‑resolution scanning.

The blend of familiar and new elements positions Requiem as a strategic release ahead of the holiday sales window. By leveraging Leon’s established fan base while spotlighting Grace as a potential franchise lead, Capcom aims to attract both veteran players and newcomers. This approach reflects a broader industry trend where legacy IPs are refreshed with diverse talent and narrative twists to sustain relevance. If Requiem delivers on its promised gameplay and storytelling, it could set a benchmark for future horror titles seeking to balance heritage with innovation.

The ninth mainline entry in the nearly 30‑year‑old Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Requiem, is just over a week away from release but Capcom is still releasing new and exciting information about the upcoming survival‑horror game.

Set 30 years after the destruction of Raccoon City seen in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Requiem will star series newcomer FBI Analyst Grace Ashcroft as she investigates a new mysterious series of murders connected to the death of her mother Alyssa Ashcroft.

Grace won’t go through this new horrifying journey alone, however, as series veteran D.S.O. Agent Leon Kennedy will also star in Requiem, investigating the mysterious death of other Raccoon City survivors as both characters inevitably return to the ruins of Raccoon City itself.

While Requiem will feature many new and returning characters, the people behind these characters are also new and veterans of the franchise, as Capcom has recently revealed that Nick Apostolides will return to voice Leon while Angela Sant’Albano will voice Grace.

The Voices of Resident Evil Requiem

Nick Apostolides should be a familiar name for longtime fans of the Resident Evil series. The North‑American actor previously voiced and performed the motion capture for Leon in both the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes. Aside from those games, Apostolides also voiced and performed motion capture for Leon in the 2021 Netflix miniseries Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, set after the events of RE4 but before Resident Evil 5.

Apostolides has voiced and performed motion capture in numerous other video games, such as the 2023 Dead Space remake, Call of Duty: Vanguard, and Life is Strange 2, to name a few.

Angela Sant’Albano is a newcomer to both Resident Evil and voice acting in video games. Requiem will be her first ever video‑game role. She has previously starred in many films and television series, such as 2016’s Genius, 2019’s Dumbo, and HBO’s Industry and The Nevers.

While these two actors will be voicing Grace Ashcroft and Leon Kennedy in Requiem, Grace’s face model is based on Polish model Julia Pratt’s likeness, while Leon’s face model is still based on Romanian model Eduard Badaluta, who previously served as the face model for Leon in the RE2 and RE4 remakes.
