Athletes increasingly rely on ultra‑processed sports nutrition products such as gels, drinks and recovery shakes, but these items are engineered for rapid energy delivery and post‑exercise recovery rather than everyday sustenance. The article argues that the health risks associated with ultra‑processed foods in sedentary populations do not automatically transfer to athletes when the products are used strategically during training.
