Why It Matters

Sumer welcomes Moore Thompson, deepening its commitment to community‑based businesses across the East of England

UK – Sumer has announced that Moore Thompson, a long‑established accountancy and advisory practice in the East of England, has joined the Group. The partnership expands Sumer’s presence across an important regional corridor and strengthens the support offered to agricultural and rural businesses; sectors that sit at the heart of many local communities.

With 100 colleagues and offices in Spalding, Wisbech, Market Deeping, Peterborough and Stamford, Moore Thompson has been advising SMEs, family‑run businesses and charities for more than a century. The firm is recognised for its approachable, relationship‑driven style of service. Its strong agricultural client base adds further depth to one of Sumer’s core sector specialisms.

The addition of Moore Thompson enhances Sumer’s growing reach along the east coast of England, complementing existing hubs in the Northeast (RMT Accountants), Yorkshire (BHP) and East Anglia (Scrutton Bland). This expanded footprint strengthens Sumer’s ability to offer clients local delivery supported by national expertise, while creating new opportunities for colleagues across the Group.

Warren Mead, Chief Executive Officer of Sumer, said:

“Moore Thompson is a trusted and respected practice with deep roots in the community. Mark and the team have built a firm that truly partners with its clients. Their values and approach align closely with ours, and we’re delighted to welcome them to Sumer.”

Mark Hildred, Managing Partner of Moore Thompson, commented:

“Joining Sumer is a hugely positive step for our firm, our colleagues and our clients. We’re proud of our heritage and the personal relationships we’ve built over many decades. Becoming part of Sumer allows us to retain everything that makes Moore Thompson special, while giving us access to wider expertise and new services which will benefit our clients. It’s an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to working with our colleagues across the Group to support even more businesses in the East of England.”
