GameShare lowers the barrier to multiplayer experiences, potentially boosting engagement and extending the Switch 2 launch momentum. It also differentiates Nintendo’s ecosystem from competitors by enabling cross‑generation sharing.
GameShare marks Nintendo’s most ambitious multiplayer initiative since the original Switch’s local co‑op model. By allowing a single licensed copy to be streamed across up to three nearby consoles, the feature encourages spontaneous gaming sessions at homes, friends’ houses, and small gatherings. Crucially, the system also extends to online GameChat sessions, bridging the gap between local couch‑play and internet‑based multiplayer, and giving developers a new avenue to design shared‑play experiences without requiring multiple purchases.
The inaugural catalog of 27 titles showcases Nintendo’s strategy to seed GameShare with a mix of legacy hits and fresh Switch 2 exclusives. Flagship franchises like Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury and sports staples such as EA Sports FC 26 signal confidence that high‑profile games will drive early adoption. Meanwhile, indie and party titles—Brotato, Clubhouse Games, and Overcooked 2—highlight the feature’s appeal for low‑cost, high‑replay value experiences. Early data suggests that shared‑play can extend a game’s lifecycle, as players who try a title via GameShare are more likely to purchase their own copy later.
Looking ahead, Nintendo is poised to expand GameShare compatibility through firmware updates, potentially retrofitting Switch 1 titles with the necessary patches. This could create a seamless cross‑generation ecosystem, encouraging households to retain older hardware while still participating in new multiplayer modes. Competitors like Sony and Microsoft have introduced similar game‑sharing schemes, but Nintendo’s emphasis on local, ad‑hoc sessions differentiates its approach. For developers, integrating GameShare early may become a competitive advantage, offering broader reach without sacrificing revenue from individual sales.

Tying in with the launch of Nintendo Switch 2, we’ve put together a complete list of games that support GameShare. We’ll be updating this post over time as well.
GameShare is brand‑new for Nintendo Switch 2. With the feature, select titles allow you to play with others even if they don’t own a copy of the game. Even more interesting, you can share games locally with those that have the original Nintendo Switch. It’s possible to link up with up to three other systems at a time. GameShare also supports online play with other Nintendo Switch 2 systems.
You can find the most current list of GameShare games below. Nintendo Switch 1 titles on the list need an update for the feature to work. Select games exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 should come with the functionality already available. Note that only Nintendo Switch 2 systems can share games – Nintendo Switch 1 units only receive them.
