Why It Matters

The acquisition strengthens CACI’s position in the UK public‑sector data market, giving it broader access to high‑value government contracts and a competitive edge over major data brokers.

Key Takeaways

  • •CACI adds Datalynx’s secure migration expertise.
  • •Datalynx serves 51 police forces and Home Office.
  • •Acquisition expands CACI’s government data services portfolio.
  • •New resources enable scalable solutions for national‑level projects.
  • •Enhances CACI’s competition against major data brokers.

Pulse Analysis

The UK government’s push toward digital transformation has turned data migration and cloud adoption into strategic priorities for ministries, law‑enforcement agencies, and security bodies. Companies that can move massive, highly classified datasets while maintaining compliance are in short supply, and they command premium contracts. CACI, a long‑standing provider of intelligence‑grade analytics and technology services, has built a reputation for delivering secure solutions to both public and commercial clients. By bolstering its portfolio with a specialist that already meets stringent clearance requirements, CACI positions itself to capture a larger slice of this growing market.

Datalynx, founded in 2002, has become a niche powerhouse in the public‑sector arena, handling end‑to‑end data migration for 51 police forces, the Home Office, and national security databases such as PND and CAID. Its consultants hold Security Clearance (SC) and Police Vetting (NPPV3), allowing the firm to work with the most sensitive information. Beyond government, Datalynx serves corporate names like Capita and Argos, as well as software vendors and cloud providers, demonstrating a versatile skill set that bridges legacy systems and modern cloud environments.

The acquisition gives CACI immediate access to Datalynx’s client relationships and technical talent, accelerating its ability to deliver scalable, adaptive solutions for organisations of national importance. In a competitive landscape that includes Experian, Acxiom, TransUnion and Equifax, the deal differentiates CACI through deeper government footholds and proven compliance capabilities. Analysts expect the combined entity to pursue larger, multi‑year contracts for data modernization, potentially shaping the UK’s approach to secure cloud migration and reinforcing the country’s overall cyber‑resilience.

Deal Summary

CACI UK announced the acquisition of Datalynx, a specialist in data and cloud migration services for the public sector. The deal expands CACI's capabilities in handling sensitive government data and strengthens its position in the UK public sector market.

CACI UK has boosted its offering by acquiring independent data management specialist Datalynx, which provides data and cloud migration services primarily to the public sector.

Founded by Charlie Spinks in 2002, Datalynx provides customers with a comprehensive data migration service, from planning through to build, test and compliance and is known for handling highly sensitive data, with consultants holding government security clearance (SC) and police clearance (NPPV3).

The company works for 51 police forces, the Home Office, and national security databases (PND, CAID); it also has a number of corporate clients including Capita and Argos, along with  software vendors and cloud providers.

CACI also supports government and commercial customers in transforming their operations through data, insight and technology. The company has maintained a low profile in the press in recent years compared to its main rivals, which include the likes of Experian, Acxiom, TransUnion and Equifax, mainly due to its work in helping intelligence services. Its client portfolio remains confidential.

CACI UK chief executive Tracy Weir has been at the company for nearly three decades and in 2024 succeeded Greg Bradford – who set up the UK office of the company in the 1980s. She had been managing director since January 2020.

Weir said: “We’re delighted to welcome Datalynx and their exceptionally talented leadership and team to our business. Their important position in the Home Office, particularly with the Police, is a testament to both their capability and calibre.

“We have common core values and a shared culture – a collaborative way of working, a focus on solving real-world problems and a passion for deploying the best and most secure data solutions for our clients. Fred and his team are a perfect fit and an important addition to our Government and public sector business.”

Datalynx managing director Fred Keeling added: “Joining forces with CACI gives us more power, resources and support to provide scalable, adaptive solutions to organisations of national importance.

“We’re excited about the potential for growth, innovation and to deepen our reputation, under the CACI banner, of delivering industry-leading data and cloud migration services in highly secure environments that work for the safety, security and prosperity of the UK.”
