Why It Matters

Educating retail investors lowers entry barriers, fostering broader adoption and driving sustainable growth for crypto exchanges.

Key Takeaways

  • Exchanges created Learning Centers to educate novice crypto investors.
  • Research identified trust and knowledge gaps as primary barriers.
  • Educational content covers basics, use cases, and crypto solutions.
  • Goal: transform crypto from unknown to known commodity.
  • Empowered users can make informed decisions and engage confidently.

Summary

In a recent interview, Shadman Salem outlined how crypto exchanges are tackling the education gap for inexperienced investors by launching dedicated Learning Centers.

The initiative stemmed from customer research that highlighted two primary obstacles: a pervasive lack of understanding about blockchain fundamentals and deep‑seated mistrust of institutions issuing digital assets. By aggregating tutorials, glossaries, and real‑world use‑case explanations, the platforms aim to demystify crypto’s value proposition.

Salem emphasized, “We need to make this unknown commodity a known commodity first, then let users decide what they want to do,” underscoring the shift from speculation to informed participation. The Learning Center also features interactive quizzes and risk‑management modules to reinforce retention.

If successful, the educational push could broaden retail participation, reduce regulatory friction, and accelerate mainstream adoption, ultimately expanding exchange revenues and market liquidity.

Original Description

In a recent video interview, FF News spoke with Shadman Salem, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Bitstamp. He gives us his insights on what exchanges like Bitstamp are doing to enable inexperienced investors an easier way into cryptocurrency.
“So what we did was launch this learning centre where users can explore different topics on what is crypto, what are the different that are available within crypto, what problems is crypto trying to solve,  to really help them better understand what it is [that] this world is so they can they feel more comfortable engaging with it.
I think its the fear of the unknown,  it's primal and I think that's what we're trying to solve here. We, we need to make this unknown commodity, a known commodity, and then let users decide what they want to do.”
